With high praise rolling in for Daniel Craig’s take on the iconic secret agent James Bond in the upcoming Skyfall, it seems strange to debate who will take on the role when the franchise chooses its next 007. Still, rumors have been swirling for some time regarding the possibility for Idris Elba to become the first black Bond. Now, we have the first confirmation that Elba portraying Bond in the future is real possibility.
Skyfall star Naomie Harris recently spoke with Huffington Post about the chance for a black Bond and the apparent steps that have been taken regarding Elba’s front running for that chance.
“I didn’t realize that there was this talk when I did a film with Idris [Elba] and he said that he met Barbara Broccoli [James Bond producer] and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond”, Harris said. “And I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he’s a great guy.”
