Sufjan Stevens Releases LEGO Stop Motion Video for Christmas Song

After rumors galore surrounding a new Sufjan Stevens Christmas album, we’ve got our first taste of what is hopefully on the way. A video was posted to Sufjan Stevens’ website yesterday titled “I am Santa’s Slave! Majesty Snow Cone!” The title isn’t exactly “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” but we’re happy he’s keeping it fresh after five Christmas collections.

The accompanying video is a stop motion affair, which is completely brought to life by Stevens himself and an eclectic set of LEGOs. Throughout the short clip, we hear Stevens repeat “I am Santa’s helper, you are Santa’s slave.” Stevens wrote on his site that the video was completed in 2007 “with Gavin’s Legos in Tai Po, HK.”

Stevens’ record label, Asthmatic Kitty, has not yet confirmed (or denied!) a holiday release, but we’re keeping our eyes peeled—especially now.
