This Week in News

In a week filled with new music releases and announcements of new music to come, we saw several veterans returning alongside the next wave of talent. The Rolling Stones tweeted a potential set list for their 50th anniversary tour, while Neil Young and Crazy Horse released a video for their song “Twisted Road,” a tribute to the musicians that have inspired them throughout their career. Local Natives announced a new album along with a U.S. tour, while BritPop vets Blur released the tracklist for their upcoming five-disc set. New videos arrived from Kaki King, Pinback and a particularly upbeat La Sera. Finally, Record Store Day revealed their complete list of Black Friday releases.

In movie news, marketing campaigns for Skyfall and The Hobbit continued to escalate their efforts, with Bond revealing a clip and some behind-the-scenes footage, while Warner Bros. released five new stills from the upcoming tale from Middle Earth. Jason Schwartzman was not surprisingly added to the cast list for Wes Anderson’s next film, while Rooney Mara was seen on stage with The Black Lips at Austin City Limits Festival shooting a scene for Terrence Malick.

Two of television’s most beloved shows made news this week, as Community released a clip of the cast discussing the yet-to-be-announced season four premiere date, as well as a sneak peek at the action to come this year. It was announced that Carl Weathers will return to Arrested Development. A trailer for Arrested Development’s forthcoming documentary was also released.

Finally, dynamic duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were announced as hosts of the Golden Globes and last week’s season premiere of the Walking Dead set a basic cable record for the most watched drama telecast in history.
