Though Thursday night’s vice presidential debate didn’t hold a candle to the initial presidential debate in terms of Twitter traffic during the proceedings, it still acted as the cornerstone of a very busy week in the world of www.twitter.com.

Also among the most tweeted about of the week’s goings on were Danny Devito and Rhea Pearlman ending their 30-year marriage, as well as the perceived preposterousness of Columbus Day. On Tuesday, Twitter lashed out after Felix Baumgartner was forced to abort his Red Bull-sponsored skydive attempt from space.

As with the first presidential debate, real-time reaction to the vice presidential war of words inundated Twitter feeds for two hours straight, with the “Laughing Joe Biden” account hilariously picking up where the first debate’s “Silent Jim Lehrer” left off. Well done, Twitter.
