Watch Andrew Bird on Letterman
Andrew Bird performed to an empty audience on The Late Show with David Letterman last night, courtesy of Hurricane Sandy. Bird filled in for the originally scheduled St. Vincent and David Byrne, who cancelled their performance due to weather.
Backed by Tift Merritt and Alan Hampton, Bird sang Townes Van Zandt’s “If I Needed You,” off his new album Hands of Glory. Despite the lack of an audience, Bird and his crew gave a spirited performance of the classic song.
