Wes Anderson: Johnny Depp Will Not Star In The Grand Budapest Hotel
Following this year’s strong showing from Moonrise Kingdom, Wes Anderson has been quiet regarding the details of his next project, The Grand Budapest Hotel. But in a recent interview with Huffington Post, Anderson spoke out to kill a rumor regarding the film’s lead, which was believed to be Johnny Depp.
Anderson stated, “You know, the Internet has a way of announcing things on its own [laughs]. You will find that even though I’m very aware of the cast that has been announced on its own devices, you’ll never find me saying who’s in the movie." Anderson went on to say, "Johnny is somebody who I would love to work with at some point, but he’s not going to be in this movie.”
Depp’s involvement in The Grand Budapest Hotel stems from a report filed by Deadline back in July. Anderson has yet to release the full cast, although it is known that mainstay Bill Murray will make an appearance.
As for the film itself? “ it’s very ‘Euro.’ That’s all I’ve been saying about it.” It seems for now we will have to wait for the Blu-ray release of Moonrise Kingdom on Oct. 16 to fill our Anderson fix.
