Christoph Waltz may be trading in bloodshed for Muppets. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Waltz is in negotiations to star in The Muppets’ upcoming sequel.
The Academy Award-winning actor is said to be playing an Interpol inspector in the new Muppet adventure. While the Muppet movies are known for having a long list of guest cameos, Waltz’s inspector character is said to be a featured human role. There will be two other featured human roles as well.
The director for the 2011 Muppets film, James Bobin, will be returning to direct the sequel, which he co-wrote the screenplay for with Nicholas Stoller. Also returning for a second-go are David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, the 2011 film’s producers.
Waltz will next appear in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, which comes out this Christmas.
