Dorothy's Dress from Wizard of Oz Sold for $480K

In 1939, Judy Garland donned a simple blue dress and promptly travelled from Kansas to Emerald City and back in The Wizard of Oz. An instantly recognizable part of film history, the original wardrobe piece from the film was auctioned this weekend at a price of $480,000, according to Deadline.

The piece was up for bid at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills. Also being sold were Steve McQueen’s racing jacket two prop pieces worn by John Belushi in The Blues Brothers.

Dorothy’s dress was not the only Wizard of Oz piece being auctioned, as publicity material for the film including keybook, continuity and photos sold for $33,705.
