My Bloody Valentine Promises New Album By End of the Year

It’s only been 21 years since Loveless, but who’s counting? After a long wait, plenty of deafening reunion shows and a few reissues, My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields expects the band to release a new album by the end of this year. They’ll follow it with a new EP of new material.

In an interview with NME, Shields said, “I think with this record, people who like us will immediately connect with something. Based on the very, very few people who’ve heard stuff – some engineers, the band, and that’s about it – some people think it’s stranger than ‘Loveless’. I don’t. I feel like it really frees us up, and in the bigger picture it’s 100 per cent necessary.”

The band is set to head to Japan in February to play a handful of shows in addition to one in Australia.
