Donald Woods, president of the union that represents hundreds of workers in Illinois Hostess plants, talked to the Chicago Sun-Times after the announcement that Hostess Brands is going out of business. “It’s a very sad day because there’s lots of history there,” Woods said. “We have members who’ve had 40 years there. ... Their dream was working there and retire there.”
But aside from tons of jobs lost (the factory closing means nearly 18,500 layoffs), Twitter had a bigger concern today: There will be no more Twinkies—for now, at least, unless someone purchases the Hostess brand.
