Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel Officially Sign on for Boy Meets World Sequel
Fans of Boy Meets World, ‘90s nostalgia or ABC’s old TGIF programming block will be delighted to hear that one of the staples of their youth will be returning to television—and together, no less.
TVLine reports that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel (who you might remember better as Cory and Topanga) have officially signed on for the upcoming Disney Channel sequel, Girl Meets World. They will be reprising their roles in the series which will be told from the point of view of their 13-year-old daughter, Riley.
Michael Jacobs, Boy Meets World creator and executive producer, is expected to return to oversee the sequel’s development.
Fishel took to her Tumblr to address the news: " When the news leaked that GMW was in the making, literally days after I first heard about the project myself, Michael Jacobs and I had a conversation and we talked about how we were both so blown away by the reactions from all of you. We felt honored. We felt nostalgic. We felt touched by the excitement in your comments, tweets, Tumblr, and Facebook posts. But most of all, we felt inspired. We felt inspired to bring these characters back to life and to tell you more of their stories."
The show is still in the very early stages of development, and it is not yet known what other characters will return (if any); however, this story will be followed closely.
