Skyfall, Lincoln Help Box Office Set Holiday Weekend Record
Twilight Also Made a Lot of Money
As box office numbers continue to slip in light of the emergence of in-home and on-demand entertainment, moviegoers proved this weekend that going to the theaters is still a popular pastime. With an estimated $288 million in sales, this year’s holiday weekend proved to be the highest-grossing Thanksgiving weekend in box office history, Deadline reports.
In its third week, Skyfall came in at the second position only behind the final Twilight entry. Spielberg’s Lincoln rounded out the top three.
Newcomer Rise of the Guardians underwhelmed while Ang Lee’s visually striking Life of Pie surprised many with an international total of $47.7 million.
