San Francisco psych rocker Ty Segall stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman last night to fill the role of musical guest. As he has on other recent TV appearances, Segall played “You’re the Doctor,” from his recently released album, Twins. Twins is the third album Segall has released this year, following Hair, a collaborative LP with White Fence’s Tim Presley, and Slaughterhouse, released as the Ty Segall Band.
As with his memorable performance on WGN Morning News last month, his Letterman version of “You’re the Doctor” was wilder than what we’re used to seeing from TV musical performances. This time, however, instead of an extended period of unintelligible yelling, when the song ended Segall simply screamed “GO VOTE!” An amused Letterman then came over to shake hands and said “Remember kids, don’t neglect your studies.”
