The sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes hasn’t even begun filming but already star Andy Serkis (who plays Caesar) is revealing some intriguing plot details.
“The interesting thing now will be how Caesar operates in this world—because of the virus that hits at the end of the first movie—and how Caesar brings an accord between the apes and the surviving humans and that’s going to be interesting where we take that,” Serkis said in an interview with Coming Soon.
So far only Serkis is confirmed to be returning from the first film. New director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) has reportedly already met with the performance-capture pro and production is set to begin early next year for a May 23, 2014 release date.
Until then, Serkis can be seen in theaters in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey beginning Dec. 14.
