Exclusive: Henry Rollins Talks Involvement with West of Memphis
In 1994, three teenagers were convicted of the murder of three boys in West Memphis, Arkansas. Serving life sentences, the teenagers sat immobile while the nation began to dig deeper into their case. Upon further investigation, many Americans, including musician Henry Rollins, believed that they were in fact innocent due to several flaws in the court case.
Now, almost 20 years later, Amy Berg (Academy Award nominee for her 2006 film Deliver Us From Evil) is set to release the documentary West of Memphis, which chronicles this bizarre turn of events in Arkansas, including never before seen evidence.
Henry Rollins felt a strong connection to the case and made the decision to become involved with the film by galvanizing several musicians to contribute to the film’s soundtrack and funding.
In the exclusive clip below, Rollins speaks of his own personal investment in the story and what lead him to become involved. West of Memphis opens in theaters next week.
