Ghostbusters Secrets Revealed at Jason Reitman's Live Reading
Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman was joined by his son and fellow director Jason (Up in the Air, Juno) for a live reading of the 1984 film on Thursday. Seth Rogen, Jack Black and Rainn Wilson were among the new cast taking over the roles made famous by the likes of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis.
Reading from Ramis and Aykroyd’s October 1983 shooting draft, a few little-known details came to light. Murray, it turns out, improvised everything. The Ecto-1 was originally envisioned as a gold ambulance painted black. Those now-infamous tan uniforms were first imagined as “matching blue futuristic jumpsuits” with “brushed-metal, flip-down ecto-visors worn on the head like a welder’s mask.” Slimer the green ghost was actually yellow at first. Of course these secrets are very minor; however, for Ghostbusters fans they give a previously unseen look into the classic film.
