Earlier this year, Apple developed their own maps application, embedded it in the latest version of iOS and, to the dismay of many, prevented users from enjoying the familiar pleasures of navigating with Google Maps. Not only were iPhone users forced to acclimate themselves to a radically different user interface, but Apple Maps was riddled with problems of its own, so much so that Apple CEO Tim Cook issued a formal apology for the app’s shortcomings.
Now, to the delight of many, Google Maps has been made available for devices running iOS and is currently available for download in the App Store. Google Maps interface has changed as well, but by most accounts is still the far superior transportation app. Unlike Apple Maps, users can plan their trips on public transportation and it hasn’t almost guided anyone to their death.
