Das Racist Breaks Up

Das Racist’s Heems (Himanshu Suri) confirmed last night that the Brooklyn hip hop group has broken up, Pitchfork points out. While performing a solo set at Munich’s On3 Festival, Heems said, “I’m going to do some Das Racist songs, but Das Racist is breaking up and we’re not a band anymore.”

Kool A.D. (Victor Vasquez) took to Twitter, tweeting, “for the record i quit das racist 2 months ago and was asked by our manager not to announce it yet. apparently @himanshu wanted to do it tho.”

Heems tweeted back to Kool A.D. saying, “hah dag, my bad dont even remember saying that shit.”

Das Racist released two mixtapes in 2010 and followed them with Relax, the band’s only album, last year. They also toured extensively this year on their American Rap Songs tour.
