After five years of work culminated in the release of this year’s striking The Master, it would be justifiable of Paul Thomas Anderson to take some time off. But it appears the acclaimed director is doing just the opposite, as he has made it known that he intends to begin shooting his next film in 2013.
Anderson’s next project will be an adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s book Inherent Vice, which follows a marijuana-smoking private investigator in L.A. during the 1960’s. In a profile done by the New York Times, Anderson stated he has a good deal of writing done for the adaptation and hopes to begin shooting next year.
No word on the cast has surfaced, though Robert Downey Jr. was rumored as the lead as recently as last year.
