Scott Snyder, Yanick Paquette to Leave Swamp Thing

After 18 issues of Swamp Thing’s return to the DC Universe, writer and illustrator Scott Snyder and Yanick Paquette are stepping away.

“Even before we signed on to do Swampy, we both knew it would be a limited run, as we had other projects in the pipeline we knew would eventually come to pass,” Snyder tweeted. “But the chance to do Swamp Thing, to bring back a character we’ve both loved dearly since childhood, was just too thrilling to turn down.”

Snyder’s departure from one story will allow him to focus on his other upcoming projects such as The Wake, Batman and Superman. Snyder’s friend and collaborator Jeff Lemire took to his blog to assure readers that he’s staying on board for Animal Man, a series that crossed over heavily with Swamp Thing for a series called Rotworld.

Issue #18 of Swamp Thing is set for release this March. Read Snyder’s full statement here.
