Amblin-Produced Under the Dome Adds Two More Cast Members
Under The Dome has added two more actors to its cast, including CSI: New York’s Natalie Martinez and, introducing, Alex Koch.
The TV show, to be based off Stephen King’s bestselling novel of the same name, has been in the works since the rights to the book were bought in 2009. According to Entertainment Weekly, it was originally developed for Showtime, a CBS owned channel, but was thought to be a better fit on the actual CBS network.
True to its title, the show follows a community in a post-apocalyptic world. The residents are cut off from the rest of the world by an unexplained domed barrier. It becomes their mission to discover why the barrier is there and when, or if, it will go away.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Martinez is cast to play Deputy Linda, “a young, ambitious deputy who is fiercely loyal to Sheriff Duke Perkins, who runs a tight ship in the town.”
Meanwhile, Koch is cast to play the role of Junior Rennie. Junior is “the son of the local politician and car dealer who is a smart and deeply disturbed college freshman who is desperately in love with local waitress Angie.”
Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television has signed on to produce the television series along with CBS Television Studios. King will executive produce along with Neal Baer, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider and Brian K. Vaughn.
