FOX announced today at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena that the network has a development deal with M. Night Shyamalan, the creative force behind The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. Wayward Pines, which is set to debut in 2014, is based on the novel Pines by Blake Crouch and FOX described the limited event series as being reminiscent of the cult 1990 series Twin Peaks.
In a change for the network, the drama is slated to only have 10 to 12 episodes. In the series, Secret Service Agent Ethan Burke travels to the town of Wayward Pines, Idaho to track down two missing federal agents.
FOX also announced that Seth Rogen will guest star on the February 19 episode of The Mindy Project. In “The One That Got Away,” Rogen, who currently stars in The Guilt Trip, will play Sam, the first boy Mindy (Mindy Kaling) ever kissed. The star of Knocked Up and 50/50 began his career on TV as the star of the beloved Freaks and Geeks.
