Minor League Baseball Team Eyeing Local Craft Beer Agreement
Their name is the Hillsboro Hops, after all.
According to a report by Oregon Live, the Hillsboro Hops, a newly minted minor league baseball team that relocated from Yakima, Wash. earlier last year, is nearing completion on a concessions agreement with Ovations Food Services.
According to General Manager K.L. Wombacher, the plan for the team—which is named after the area’s major agricultural crop— is to feature a large assortment of the city’s local craft beers at their games.
Wombacher states that this concessions agreement remains the last major obstacle between the team’s assimilation into the city. As it stands, the team will run concessions for the first two years. The Hops and the city are currently negotiating a deal for how the city will handle concessions after the two-year agreement ends.
“We expect to have a really good blend of craft beers, local beers, and obviously some domestic beers,” Wombacher said.
