On Tuesday, singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson joined 21 children from Newtown, Conn. to perform their benefit single of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on ABC’s Good Morning America.
According to The Associated Press, most of the children are current or former students of Sandy Hook Elementary School, where the horrific shooting tragedy occurred last month.
Recorded at the Connecticut home studio of Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club members Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, the song is available for download on iTunes and Amazon. All proceeds will benefit the local non-profit Newtown Youth Academy and the United Way of Western Connecticut.
