Writer Megan Ganz Leaving Community for Modern Family

Megan Ganz, the Community writer responsible for penning some of the show’s most popular episodes (including the Law & Order homage “Basic Lupine Urology”), revealed on reddit yesterday that she has accepted a job on Modern Family.

“Recently, I was offered a job writing for Modern Family, and although it’s unclear what will happen with Community for the fifth season (or the sixth season, or the movie), I’ve decided to take this new position. Tomorrow is my first day and I’m excited and scared to start this new… well, everything. I’m sure the coffee will probably be the same.”

Ganz joined Community in season two and stayed with the show throughout the yet-to-air fourth season. Her involvement with the series doesn’t stop immediately. She wrote two upcoming episodes, “Paranormal Parentage” and the season’s last episode, “Advanced Introduction to Finality,” and still has to give her thumbs-up on the editing of the finale.

Community returns to NBC Thursday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. EST.
