Zooey Deschanel, along with her Hello Giggles co-founder Sophia Rossi, recently signed a first-look deal with 20th Century Fox Television, according to Deadline.
The two-year deal states the partners will focus on developing dramas and comedies for the company. While the deal is a big one for the duo, it’s not a completely new venture for either Rossi or Deschanel, who produced Must Be Nice this season, a comedy produced by 20th Century and sold to Fox.
According to the report, 20th Century Fox TV chairman Gary Newman spoke on the deal and said, “We’ve known Zooey as an actress through New Girl, and as we got to know her as a producer through the script she developed
” He added, “Zooey and Sophia have their finger on the pulse of young people and particularly young women, and we really responded to that.”
