Metallica's Orion Music + More Festival Announces 2013 Lineup
The second annual Orion Music + More Festival announced the 2013 lineup that includes festival-organizers Metallica headlining with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones and Bassnectar.
Orion Music + More will take place during the weekend of June 8-9 at Belle Isle in Detroit, Mich. The “more” aspect of the festival will feature “a lifestyle element that reflects each of Metallica’s band members many personal interests,” according to a press release. This includes guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield’s Custom Car & Motorcycle Show, guitarist Kirk Hammett’s Crypt, drummer Lars Ulrich’s Hit the Lights Film Tent and bassist Robert Trujillo’s Vans Vert Ramp.
Lars Ulrich provided this statement about the upcoming festival: “Last year’s Orion Music + More Festival was hands down the highlight of the Metallica calendar. A great time was had by all, especially the band members. The fact that it also resonated with enough of our fans and friends that it warrants another go-around in ’13 is beyond exciting. I can think of no better place than the Motor City, with its rich and diverse history of music, for the second ride on our Orion festival train. Bring it the fuck on!”
Starting Feb. 26, a two-day presale for members of the Metallica Met Club fan club will allow the purchase of 2-day festival passes at the discounted price of $125. Met Club members are also given the option of super-sized exclusive Met Club Ultra 2-day Passes for $225 that include front of stage viewing during Metallica’s set, access to the Ultra Lounge and more to be announced. Before the tickets are officially on-sale, e-list members of the Orion Music + More festival will be able to purchase tickets from Feb. 27-28. Tickets will be available to the public on March 1. Two-day passes will be $150. For more information, visit the festival’s website here.
