Morrissey Cancels Jimmy Kimmel Live! Appearance to Protest Duck Dynasty

In a statement released Monday, singer Morrissey has announced that he will not perform on Tuesday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! unless the talk show removes another guest from the lineup, according to a statement to CNN.

The offending guest that has the former frontman for the Smiths all upset? It’s the cast of of A&E’s reality show Duck Dynasty.

A statement released on Monday quotes Morrissey as saying the following:

“As far as my reputation is concerned, I can’t take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers. If Jimmy cannot dump Duck Dynasty then we must step away.”

Duck Dynasty is a reality show on A&Ethat features a family (The Robertsons) from Louisiana that has made their fortune selling duck calls, devices that hunters use to attract ducks to make them easier to hunt.

This isn’t the first time Morrissey has taken a stand against what he sees as animal cruelty. Recently, he demanded that the Staples Center ensure that only vegetarian products are sold during his concert there. The Staples Center has opted to instead offer more vegetarian choices for customers instead of an all-vegetarian menu.

A new episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs tonight at 11:35 pm EST.
