Netflix CEO Says New Arrested Development Season Will Be a “One-Off”

Those expecting future seasons of Arrested Development beyond its Netflix resurrection may want to stop doing a celebratory chicken dance and prepare to do a morose, Charlie Brown scuffle.

Deadline reports that earlier today—at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference CEO Reed Hastings announced that his company the beloved comedy series will likely only run for one season.

“We don’t anticipate being able to do season five, six and seven…and we have less of a stake in it.” Hastings said. “So it’s really a fantastic one-off which is coming together incredibly.”

Hastings went on to say that the company is focusing on developing long-term series and franchises that can play out over many years.

The show is set to return with 14 new episodes sometime in May.
