When Beyonce capped off her instant classic of a halftime performance at the Super Bowl with an announcement of a world tour, the American leg kickoff in Los Angeles seemed normal enough. Now, it appears that her Staples Center date is part of a much larger event called The BET Experience.
Named after the cable network that is behind the event, The BET Experience will be set around the annual BET Awards as they move into LA Live for the first time, home of the Lakers, Clippers, Kings and multiple music venues.
Already on the bill are four separate concerts over three days, including the aforementioned Beyonce’s appearance, along with a Friday night bill of Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, and Miguel, and a Sunday night finale with R. Kelly, New Edition, and The Jacksons.
As reported by the OC Register, the June 28-30 weekend will also “bring an exhibit to the Grammy Museum, film screenings and seminars, live tapings of the channel’s 106 & Park program,” and what is expected to be more performances at the block’s other venues. Already an Erykah Badu show has been added to Club Nokia for the same weekend in the complex..
Tickets for all the shows look to be sold separately, but a weekend trip might be in order for die hard fans
