The Walking Dead Breaks Basic-Cable Record with 12.3 Million Viewers

Apparently Grammys are no match for zombies.

Last night’s midseason return of AMC’s popular zombie drama The Walking Dead was viewed by 12.3 million viewers despite airing against the Grammy Awards on CBS.

According to Deadline, the episode titled “The Suicide King” was watched by 7.7 million viewers in the Adults 18-49 rating and is up 6 percent from the drama’s previously highest rating: its third season premiere last October. Last night’s record-breaking ratings made The Walking Dead episode the most watched show in a series in basic-cable history.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC at 9 p.m. EST.
