As Deadline reports, Will Arnett, the actor most famous for portraying Gob Bluth on Arrested Development and being the former Mr. Amy Poehler, will star in the lead role of a new multi-camera sitcom pilot being developed for CBS.
The currently untitled pilot is being written and executive produced by Greg Garcia, the creator of My Name is Earl and Raising Hope. Arnett plays a recently divorced man who must deal with the complications of his parents’ own troubled marriage, meaning the show’s premise has more than a passing similarity to Arnett’s own recent divorce from Amy Poehler.
Plans for Up All Night, the NBC comedy Arnett currently stars in, have been set askew by the abrupt departure of Arnett’s co-star Christina Applegate two weeks ago. Since that time Arnett has been approached about a number of pilots, along with Up All Night cast member Maya Rudolph, who is rumored to be in talks about NBC’s upcoming comedy with Will and Grace star Sean Hayes.
