Yeah Yeah Yeahs Announce SXSW Date, Release New Mosquito Teaser

We’ve already got the details on the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s upcoming album, Mosquito, which is out April 16. Now the band has released a teaser of a new song along with a sole SXSW date, an appearance at NPR’s music showcase. The event takes place at Stubbs on March 13, but will also be available as a stream through NPR. Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds will also perform at the event.

Mosquito will be the band’s first album in four years and was recorded at Sonic Ranch in Tornilla, Texas. Lead singer Karen O says this album is moodier and more “tripped-out” than fans are used to, with influences from reggae and psychedelia. It was produced (separately) by Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio) and Nick Launay (Arcade Fire). LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy also produced a track.
