Amazon Studios Greenlights Original Comedy Pilot

Days after announcing Sony TV’s Zombieland was coming to Amazon Prime, Amazon Studios greenlit another comedy pilot, according to Deadline. The show, called Betas, is set in Silicon Valley and follows four friends on a quest for fame. Of course, in their world, fame comes only to those proven to be smartest and most nerdy. Their goal is to create the code or algorithm that will put them on the map.

According to the report, Alan Freedland, Alan Cohen, Michael London and Michael Lehmann will produce the series; Lehmann will also direct the pilot.

London commented on working with Amazon studios instead of networks, stating “Amazon is giving us a chance to work outside the TV bureaucracies and connect directly with audiences hungry for original content.”

Betas will be available on Amazon Instant along with seven other comedy pilots the studio is reportedly developing.
