Apple Reportedly in Talks With Beats Electronics For Streaming Service
Apple is reportedly in talks with Dr. Dre’s Beats Electronics over the high-end headphones company’s upcoming streaming music service, Beats Music.
According to Reuters Apple CEO Tim Cook and Beats Electronics’ CEO Jimmy Iovine held an “informational” meeting about Beats Music in late February.
Three unnamed sources told Reuters that during the meeting Cook “expressed interest” in Beats Music’s business model and the plans for its release.
Though rumors of a partnership between Apple and Beats Electronics are flying around, Apple and Beats have opted not to comment on the situation.
Such a partnership, however, could allow Apple to offer a streaming music service alongside its already successful online media store, iTunes.
