According to a cryptic tweet from director Marc Webb, The Office’s B.J. Novak has been cast in a mysterious role for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Since filming for next summer’s blockbuster is currently under way in New York City, Webb has provided fans with behind-the-scenes extras via his Twitter account. Novak’s role has not yet been announced, but the director’s teaser states he will have ties to Oscorp Industries.
As previously announced, Andrew Garfield will return as the high-flying hero with Emma Stone also reprising the role of love interest Gwen Stacy. Three new villans join the franchise with Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti as the Rhino and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn.
In addition to writing and co-producing for The Office, Novak played Ryan Howard for nine seasons and also had a minor role in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for a May 2, 2014 release.
