Bo Burnham's Sitcom To Debut On MTV In May
YouTube celebrity Bo Burnham announced that his long-awaited MTV television series Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous will debut on May 2.
The 22-year-old comedian co-created Zach Stone and also stars as the titular character who pursues superstardom despite having no real talent.
“It’s something that I’ve been working on for a long time now and I’m very proud of it,” Burnham said on his Tumblr announcement. “There’s a lot to be made fun of when it comes to young people’s desperate need to be famous, and to be able to do it on MTV — the place where many of those needs are cultivated — is lots of fun.”
Burnham got his start on YouTube making videos of himself performing original comedic songs. Successfully releasing one EP and two full-length albums via Comedy Central Records, Burnham also became the youngest person to record a comedy special on the network after his 2009 stand-up gig.
In addition to Zach Stone, Burnham also updated his fanbase of his upcoming projects: a new Comedy Central special, tour and a poetry book “full of vulgar, silly, sweet and weird poems and illustrations.” Read his full Tumblr post here.
Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous will premiere Thursday, May 2 at 10:30 p.m. EST.
