Comedy Central Orders Amy Poehler-Produced Comedy

The former web series, Broad City, is being adapted for TV in the form of a 10-episode scripted comedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series will star Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, also stars of the web series, and will premiere in 2014.

Broad City follows two friends as they navigate their way through life in New York City.

In the report, Kent Alterman, president of Comedy Central’s original programming, jokes about the plot being less than novel.

“Finally, there’s a television show set in New York City. I’m immensely proud that we have done it first,” Alterman said.

Still, with Poehler involved, we’re sure it’ll be something worth watching.

Poehler, who will executive produce the series along with Glazer and Jacobson, commented on the new venture saying, “I’m excited to work with Comedy Central and introduce Abbi and Ilana to America… And all the other countries. And also Mars. We’ve got big plans.”
