IFC Orders Two New Comedy Series From Will Ferrell and Ben Stiller

IFC recently ordered two new comedy series, The Spoils of Babylon and The Birthday Boys, from two of comedy’s biggest names, according to Deadline.

The Spoils of Babylon, produced by Funny or Die, is a TV adaptation of the epic novel by fictional author, Eric Jonrosh. Will Ferrell will play Jonrosh and will also executive produce the series along with Andrew McKay. According to the report, the series chronicles the lives of a family made rich by the oil business. Ferrell commented on working with IFC saying, “IFC is either really courageous or really stupid which makes them the perfect partner for us.”

IFC has ordered six episodes of the new series which was written by SNL’s Andrew Steele and will be directed by Matt Piedmont.

The Birthday Boys is a sketch comedy series executive produced by Ben Stiller and Bob Odenkirk. At the center of the series will be the L.A. based comedy group of the same name. According to Deadline, the half hour show will be in the format of a variety show.

Stiller spoke to Deadline about the project saying, “The Birthday Boys are too good to just be making viral videos.” said Ben Stiller. “I’m thrilled to be working with Bob Odenkirk again on a TV project. We try to do something every 20 years or so.” Odenkirk and Stiller worked together on SNL in the past. The Birthday Boys will write and co-direct the show along with Odenkirk.
