Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience Sells 968,000 Copies in First Week
Complete with a No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, Justin Timberlake’s comeback album The 20/20 Experience is the fastest selling album of 2013 with 968,000 copies sold in its first week, according to Neilsen SoundScan.
The album beat out 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds, which sold 684,000 in its debut week. The 20/20 Experience also marks the biggest first-week album sales of Timberlake’s solo career. Justin’s former boy band ’N Sync currently holds the all-time best-selling record for their No Strings Attached album with 2.4 million copies sold over one week in April 2000.
What began with a surprisingly mysterious video announcement in early January, Timberlake embarked on a jam-packed three-month promotional tour to gain hype for his first album in nearly seven years. Timberlake performed on the Grammys, hosted Saturday Night Live and appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for a week-long stint. Jay-Z will also join his “Suit & Tie” collaborator on an arena tour titled Legends of Summer.
Luckily for impatient fans, Timberlake also recently confirmed that a second album 20/20 Experience will be released in November.
