Report Says LG Joining Smartwatch Race
Recently revealed patents confirmed that Apple was working on a version of a touch screen watch, dubbed the “iWatch” by most media outlets.
But it seems Apple isn’t the only company that wants in on this market. The Verge reported the Korean electronics company LG is building its own smartwatch to rival not only competition from Apple, but also Samsung and Google.
According to the report, the watch, which might run on either Google’s or Firefox’s OS, would be similar to the one the Apple is building. It would have the ability to sync mobile devices and use the watch as a remote control for them.
There are no reports on the cost of the smartwatches or when they’ll be in stores, but it’s clear a race is on between these companies. Only time will tell which company will release theirs first or, more importantly, which company develops the better product.
