M83 Releases First Track from Oblivion Soundtrack

Following in the footsteps of Daft Punk—who provided their brand of European electronic-dance pop to director Joseph Kosinski’s Tron: Legacy—M83’s Anthony Gonzalez has lent his musical talents to scoring Oblivion, Kosinski’s highly anticipated, Tom Cruise-starring follow-up.

In collaboration with Tron: Uprising composer Joseph Trapanese, M83 has released the first track from the film’s soundtrack (via Rolling Stone). Titled “StarWaves,” the song is a haunting slow-burner that builds to the kind of epic crescendo we’ve come to expect from a M83 composition.

The film is slated to be released on April 12 in IMAX theaters while the soundtrack will drop on April 9 via Back Lot Records.
