Marvel Casts Dave Bautista as Dax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy movie now has its Dax the Destroyer.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, mixed martial arts fighter and WWE wrestler Dave Bautista will portray the super-powered green warrior in the James Gunn-directed sci-fi adventure.

Bautista is the second actor to be announced for the project. Back in February, Chris Pratt was confirmed to play team leader Peter Quill/Star Lord, a U.S. pilot who inadvertently ends up in the midst of a galactic war and is forced to go on the run with a collection of extraterrestrial ex-cons.

According to the plot description, the team will include giant tree-man Groot, fast-healing, last-of-her-species alien Gamora and anthropomorphic raccoon/explosions expert Rocky Raccoon.

Bautista previously appeared in the RZA-directed The Man with the Iron Fists and will join Vin Diesel in the upcoming Riddick.

Filming is scheduled to begin in June.
