Marvel to Release Over 700 No. 1 Issues Digitally
Update Due to the overwhelming response garnered by Marvel’s recent No. 1 issue promotion, the service used by Marvel to distribute the digital copies of the comic books, Comixology, has crashed while trying to keep up with the demand.
As a result, Marvel’s free comic book promotion has been cancelled, (via The Verge). Until the issue is resolved, the promotion is cancelled until further notice.
Original TextComic book-publisher Marvel Entertainment is releasing the digital versions of over 700 No. 1 issues of its various comic book series, The Associated Press points out.
Beginning Sunday, the digital issues will be available for free via Marvel’s website and its mobile app.
The issues will no longer be offered for free after Tuesday: the digital copies will cost $1.99 to $3.99 per issue.
A few of the titles to be included in the upcoming digital offering are: Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men.
