Mindy Kaling to Write Second Book

During The Mindy Project panel at PaleyFest 2013 on Friday, Mindy Kaling confirmed that she will write her second book during the summer hiatus of her Fox comedy series.

After spending eight years as a series regular and writer for NBC’s The Office, Kaling created The Mindy Project in which she both stars and executive produces. Kaling released her first book of essays titled Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) in 2011.

When discussing her second book, Kaling said she has not yet determined a title, but she’s expects it will chronicle “the high highs and low lows of the past 18 months” and be out within a year and a half.

The Mindy Project was recently renewed for a second season. Kaling also confirmed at PaleyFest that she will return as Kelly Kapoor for The Office series finale.

“It’s really exciting. I’ve just read the pages, and it’s really an amazing episode of television,” Kaling explained.
