Rumored: Alan Cumming May or May Not Be In Upcoming X-Men Movie

The upcoming X-Men movie is officially toying with our emotions.

There have been various reports confirming that Alan Cumming would be reprising his role as the always faithful and lovable Nightcrawler. Cumming excellently executed the role of the mutant teleporter in X2: X-Men United, so when it became clear the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past would be reprising characters from the original franchise, fans were excited to learn Cummings was on the list.

However, on Tuesday ComingSoon.net reported Cumming would not appear in the movie, saying they had confirmation that “Alan Cumming will not be reprising his X2 role of Kurt “Nightcrawler” Wagner in Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men…”

Then came James McAvoy offering a little hope but a lot of confusion. During an interview with Heat Magazine, also posted on Tuesday, McAvoy, who will be reprising his role as Professor X, mentioned Alan Cumming among a list of actors that will appear in the movie.

Director Bryan Singer, nor Alan Cumming himself, has confirmed or denied. However, in February the latter did comment on the rumors of joining the cast saying, “I don’t know… there are certain aspects of the script that I’m still toying with.”

While there is no confirmation on Cumming, there are still plenty of familiar faces confirmed to be reprising their roles, including Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page, Michael Fassbender and Anna Paquin.

The film is due out next summer.
