The vicious feud between ‘90s Britpop bands Oasis and Blur has long ranked among the most intense in rock history.
Besides competing for album and singles sales, the two would frequently trade barbs via the British press, with Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher once infamously stating that he hoped Blur (and later Gorillaz) frontman Damon Albarn would “get AIDS and die.”
And while Gallagher and Albarn reportedly reconciled back in 2011 after a chance encounter at a Mayfair nightclub, they made it quite official that any ill will between them was long gone. On Saturday they performed together (along with Blur lead guitarist Graham Coxon) at Gallagher’s Teenage Cancer Trust charity concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Albarn performed “Tender” from Blur’s 1999 album 13 with Gallagher performing backup vocals. The group was also joned by famed British singer-songwriter Paul Weller.
