Facebook Home Beta App Leaked

If you can’t wait until Friday to get Facebook Home on your smartphone, there’s an app leak for that.

MoDaCo has just released a beta version of the OS-like Android-powered social networking app, according to The Verge.

This pre-release version should be compatible with many Android mobile devices but especially with Google’s Nexus 4 phone and Nexus 7 tablet.

There is one main requirement for downloading MoDaCo’s Facebook Home beta app: Your mobile device must be an Android-powered one with a maximum resolution of 1280 × 768, according to MoDaCo.

There are a few notable drawbacks to downloading this leaked version of Facebook Home: One of the app’s featured functions, “Chat Heads,” doesn’t seem to work, you’ll have to enable ‘install from unknown sources’ in your Android phone’s settings and there may still be a security risk to your device as the beta version was originally signed with test keys. (MoDaCo has since re-signed the app with its own private key to address the security risk issue.)

If you’re still interested in MoDaCo’s Facebook Home beta app, you can view the installation instructions and download it here.
