Luke Evans to Play Title Role in Universal's Dracula
Though Universal Pictures already had a classic in their 1931 film adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula the studio now has another version of the vampire legend up its sleeve.
Also named Dracula, this movie will depict a heartbreaking origin story of the mythical villain, in which the titular character is a prince who becomes a vampire in order to save his wife and child from being killed, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Actor Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6, The Raven) has been chosen to play Dracula in Universal’s newest origin story film. Gary Shore, who caught Hollywood’s attention with his short The Cup of Tears, will direct.
Dracula is expected to begin filming later this year. A release date for the movie has yet to be determined.
