Metal Gear Solid-maker Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. announced Tuesday the release date for the video game franchise’s upcoming Legacy Collection.

In honor of Metal Gear Solid’s 25th anniversary, Konami will be releasing Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection in June 2013, exclusively via PlayStation 3.

The Legacy Collection will include the following games from the Gear franchise: Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions and Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition.

The press release also went on to explain why Konami is only releasing the Legacy Collection via PlayStation 3 with the following quote from Tomoyuki Tsuboi, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc:

“We wanted to give METAL GEAR SOLID fans the opportunity to experience the series from beginning to end, all on one console. With the collection’s multiple titles, players can truly see how METAL GEAR SOLID evolved into the critically acclaimed and beloved franchise it is today.”

While the release date for Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection has been announced, the price range for this upcoming collection is still unknown.
